Koromiko School will have its final day open on 14 December this year. Education Minister Hekia Parata has approved the school board’s request for voluntary closure and the formal closure date is set for 28 January.

The school had 17 students but forecasts showed a drop to only five starting next year.

Koromiko School will have its final day open on 14 December this year. Education Minister Hekia Parata has approved the school board’s request for voluntary closure and the formal closure date is set for 28 January.

The school had 17 students but forecasts showed a drop to only five starting next year.

The announcement was a sad day for the teachers, students and parents who have been committed to the school and creating the wonderful environment for children’s education.

In remembrance of the school, we have put together, with assistance of school photo albums and the Picton Museum, a range of pictures to remember some of the positive moments of the past 139 years.
